By touching a body, we touch every event it has experienced. For a few brief moments we hold all of a client’s stories in our hands.  We witness someone’s experience of their own flesh, through some of the most powerful means possible; the contact of our hands, the acceptance of the body without judgment, and the occasional listening ear. With these gestures, we reach across the isolation of the human experience and hold another person’s legend.  In massage therapy, we show up and ask, in so many ways, what it is like to be another human being. In doing so, we build a bridge that may heal us both. – Tracy Walton

A month ago, I had no idea what gem lay hidden in the enclave of my office building. On the outside, the Holistic Health and Wellness Center looks like any other office suite, but open the door, and you enter an oasis of tranquility. It’s almost as if outside the office, life is a blur of activity, but inside, owner Tina has a firm hold on the slo-mo button. Immediately, your overloaded senses are pampered with the sound of soft music, the lullaby of a fountain, the sweet sent of massage oil, the soothing colors of her decor. The relaxation begins the moment you walk into this other-worldly place.

“It’s about pain relief, making people feel pampered, loved, and happy.” -Tina Kreifeldt, LMT and owner

Tina’s manner is warm and generous. As she guides you to her massage table, you know immediately this is going to more than you anticipated. Everything feels abundant, from the plush linens on the table to the eucalyptus-scented towels to the complimentary robes and bottled water. As she begins her treatment, you can feel Tina’s immense focus in the way your muscles respond to her touch. Tina is highly trained in many massage modalities, and she is drawing on all of them to create a custom massage perfect for your body type. Tina listens with her ears as well as her hands; she wants to hear your story, your feelings, what’s on your mind, if you want to talk.”People open up and tell me deeply personal things,” Tina says as a badge of honor. Just want to melt into oblivion? Tina is there to hold quiet space.

“I’m not just treating strained muscles,” Tina explains. “People come with depression and loneliness and anxiety. I battle all those things [with massage].”

If you haven’t yet experienced the enclave at 300 Main Street, there’s no better

Enjoying the annual Parade of Lights from indoors with live music and gourmet refreshments is a perk of membership at the Holistic Health Spa.

time than now. Tina has just created a new annual membership program which includes monthly one-hour massages, three gift certificates to give to three people, and an exclusive invitation to her annual Parade of Lights party. “We have live music and gourmet refreshments,” says Tina, who, as a graduate of culinary school, hand-prepares many of the delicacies herself. “It’s a beautiful way to experience a Grand Junction tradition where it’s warm and festive, and you don’t have to deal with crowds.” Tina’s favorite thing about membership is really getting to know her clients. She likes greeting them by name and making them feel like family. Can’t make your monthly appointment? No worries. You can gift your massage to a very lucky friend for no transfer fee. “I like to offer surprise freebies to my [members],” Tina says. “A free visit to the sauna or a free massage. Can’t we just give each other things sometimes?” It’s right in line with Tina’s philosophy that her clients are deeply cared for.

Couples massage is the Holistic Health Spa’s signature service. “There’s too much divorce. It’s a way for people to invest in their relationship,” says Tina. Couples massage makes for a romantic, meaningful date night.

Weekdays, when the weather is nice, you’ll find Tina bringing massage to you with pop-up chair massage right on Main Street. “I started offering this for Main Street employees to get away for 15 minutes during their lunch break. It’s important to treat arm and muscle fatigue from typing at a desk all day.” No appointment is required. Just pop on down to the corner of 3rd and Main.

But the signature service at the Holistic Health Spa? Couples massage. “This is my favorite service to offer,” says Tina. You’ll book an hour, but be prepared for it to last longer than that, and each of you will have your own massage therapist. “I really like to pamper people. I offer them a complimentary infrared sauna treatment and homemade goodies. Wine can be provided, too. There’s too much divorce in the world. [Couples massage] is a way for people to invest in their relationship.”
